三人成市虎 Yang Jiechi said the island chain was stolen by Japan

言われっ放しでは、そのうち声の大きいほうが事実になりますという諺。中国外相楊氏の発言に対し、深夜１１時の人気のない会議場で児玉和夫国連次席大使が二度の答弁権を行使して反論。これに対し中国国連大使も再反論した。児玉氏は「stolen」を「took」と言い換えていたように聞こえたが、聞き違いかもしれない。ガッツある外交官のいることを頼もしく思う。

政治が穏やかに、刺激しないようにとブレーキをかけなければと思う。藤村官房長官は「今後、反論の機会が出てくるので、しっかり反論したい」と強調するが、時機を逸しては思う壺にはまる。倍返し、三倍返しは当然の作法。

China strongly urged Japan to immediately stop all actions that threaten its territorial sovereignty over the island chain called Diaoyu in China and Senkaku in Japan.
Addressing to the world leaders, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said the island chain was stolen by Japan and then returned to China after the Second World War, and stressed that Tokyo's claims were both illegal and invalid.
He added that China will stand firm in its stance because there is indisputable historical evidence that the Diaoyu Islands belong to China.
